Most people struggled with the challenges that the 2020/21 Covid-19 pandemic presented to them. Some found comfort in baking sourdough bread, while others chose watching television and binge eating. The social isolation was also a challenge. Not me; I took the opportunity to harness this time to pour myself into a project. I had recently started to draw with colored pencils, and I knew that in between the times I would have to venture outside, I needed to make the most of my free time. I turned my attention to movie directors and created a series of triptychs, which are narrative devices used not only in religion but also in photography, painting, and filmmaking (the trilogy). I created three drawings: two in graphite pencil and one using Prismacolor pencils. These works were framed and presented after the Covid-19 pandemic at the community art gallery in Titirangi (Upstairs Gallery) in Auckland.
